Candle Nine invites everyone to celebrate the release of The Muse in the Machine CD at Object d'Aarts Gallery in Bay City.  Candle Nine (Steven Stefaniak) hails from Bay City but has been living in Chicago of late. When he performs live, he is assisted by Geramie Causley, also a Bay City musician/composer.

Listen to a few tracks at  www.myspace.com/candlenine, or visit the Tympanic Audio website: http://tympanikaudio.com/releases/ta037/. And, if that's not enough, go to: http://www.candlenine.com.

According to Typanik Audio, "From his first experience with a sequencer in 2006, the mysterious Candle Nine has done little else but constantly reshape and refine his own sound based upon his own path towards artistic aural expression."

The respected international electronic music journal Chroniques électroniques also recently reviewed The Muse in the Machine, calling it "the best IDM work of the beginning of the year."

"Far from being one of those too minimalistic or too frenetic productions that invade the bacs indus or IDM, this album is endowed with an uncontestable finesse, with an innate sense when it comes to mastering contrasts. As the title song indicates, this album combines violence and gentleness. The machine seems to prey on permanent internal demons; the muse attempts to appease the machine with relative success, depending on the track. Don't be deceived: All of this is absolutely moving. Listeners will also notice a very particular use of synthesizers, which creates a luminous fabric full of hope in the middle of all that violent suffering."  [translated from French by Jeanne Lesinski]

The $2 cover charge benefits Do-All,  a nonprofit organization that serves the local community.
