Barnett is a serious food enthusiast, who spent fifteen years in the restaurant business before establishing a career in education. He is Professor of Composition and Rhetoric and Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences at the University of Michigan-Flint. He has been writing about food for twenty years, and last year he launched his blog, Eating Flint (
eatingflint.blogspot.com), which explores the culture of Flint, Michigan through the local culinary scene. Bob lives in Flint with his partner, Philip, and their daughter, Alexis.
