Thursday, June 9th, the Magic Bean Cafe (5789 State St., Saginaw) will host students from the English Language Arts concentration at the Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy for an evening (7-9pm) of poetry and prose to celebrate their craft.

"We want to draw the community's attention to our wonderful Language Arts program, which I believe is without question one of the top five in the state," says English and history teacher Jared Morningstar, "to showcase the artistic talent of Saginaw's young writers, and to help our students celebrate the amazing creative writing that they have written throughout the course of the year."

During the 2010-2011 scholastic year, many of the students slated to perform won awards for their writing. These include local-level awards (River Junction Poetry Contest), state-level awards (Michigan Youth Arts Festival), multi-state regional level awards (Scholastic Art and Writing Contest), and national level awards (Scholastic Art and Writing).

For three decades, the Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy has been enhancing learning opportunities for gifted/talented students in Mid-Michigan.
