Get ready for 4 nights of music from 12 of Mid-Michigan's best rock, folk, blues and indie bands as Phoenix Productions and Creative 360 (1517 Bayliss St., Midland) host the 2nd annual Battle of the Bands November 6, 13, 20, 27 from 6:30-11pm.
Beginning at 7pm, every band in the lineup for a specific night will play a 45-minute set. Then the audience will be the judge. "Each night the ticket buyers will vote for their favorite band using their ticket stub as a ballot," explains organizer Ben Cohen. "We'll count them up at the end of the night." In case of a tie, fans will be able to vote online during a set period. "The favorite band from each night and a wild card band will perform the last night." The wild card will be the band with the second most votes of any of the 3 initial nights.
Cohen notes that the acoustics of Creative 360, an Alden Dow designed building, are much better than what a bar can typically offer. "The acoustics in there are fantastic because it was designed to carry sound from the stage." A professional sound manager will handle mixing.
"We are very excited to host Battle of the Bands again
this year," says Liz Ruediger, executive director of Creative 360.
"We’re big fans of
Ben Cohen here at Creative 360, and he has done a tremendous job organizing the
event and putting together a great prize package." The grand prize package includes $1,000 cash and studio time at Guitar Sound Studio in Coleman.
As well as Phoenix Productions and Creative 360, this event is sponsored by Guitar Sound Studio, 360 Main Street, Mid-Michigan Music, Magic Bean Cafe, and Body Art Factory. Tickets cost $5 and are available from the band members as well as the sponsors or directly from the
Phoenix Productions website.
