Two bars that are used to competing against each other annually at the Review Music Awards squared off in a different arena this past weekend: the ball field. On Sunday, August 29th, a motley crew of bar regulars, bar staff, and local musicians from Saginaw's White's Bar and Bay City's BeMo's Bar met in a friendly competition at Defoe Park in Bay City. Musician Andy Reed was an unofficial MVP, hitting two home runs for BeMo's. Also representing BeMo's was Marcus Arlo, Thunder Chickens, Nick Starr of The Triple Aces, and Jesse Maier of Debbie & the Formfitters. Local favorites The Tosspints wisely split their allegiances, with Don Zuzula playing for White's Bar and John Johnson playing for BeMo's. During the 4th inning stretch, Bo White was doused in beer and then led everyone in singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."  BeMo's headed into the top of the seventh inning with a dominant lead, but White's threatened, scoring five runs. However, their last inning effort wouldn't be enough. BeMo's won 12 to 8. Look for a re-match in Saginaw in September. For now, click the images above to view a slide show of some of the moments from the game.
