Support+Your+Scene+This+Saturday+at+Ojibway+Island

On Saturday, August 22nd, Saginaw's first ever Support Your Scene Festival is coming to Ojibway Island.  The art and music festival will feature over 50 bands on five stages.  Local bands, such as The Banana Convention and 2nd System, will be playing alongside nationally touring bands like Every Time I Die, Framing Hanley, I See Stars, and Murder by Death.  This is the first time that Saginaw will see an indie rock festival of this caliber.

In addition to the bands, S.Y.S. Fest will also feature an artist village where artists can display and sell their work, and there will be a party tent serving alcohol with a dance floor and DJs spinning non-stop.  Electric Chair Tattoo will be onsite for all your piercing and tattooing needs.

With the help from his friends, organizer Tony Lagalo was able to pull this event together.  "I was really worn out on Saginaw not doing things right," he says.  "I was born and raised in this great town, and I feel that changes need to be made.  And Ojibway is the perfect canvas to pain the picture."

Lagalo is looking forward to all of the bands, but he realizes he isn't likely to catch many —or any—of the acts.  "I hope to catch Every Time I Die, Murder by Death, and Ports of Aidia, but that probably won't happen since running the festival involves a lot of high-paced work."

S.Y.S. Fest is an all ages show.  Tickets can be purchased at various locations in Michigan including Flat, Black and Circular in East Lansing, Electric Chair Tattoo in Flint, Bay City, and Clio, Hot Topic and The Red Eye in Saginaw, and Mid-Michigan Music in Midland.  For a full list of bands and ticket locations, visit the SYS Fest website at http://sysfest.com.  Pre-sale cost of admission is $20; admission is $27 at the gate.  Gates open at noon.  The festival will take place rain or shine.

S.Y.S. is sponsored by Electric Chair Tattoo, Capeside Records, Hot Topic, Rockstar Energy Drink, Random Awesome!, Guitar Center, Rotary International, InkAddict.com, Review Magazine, Fabiano Brothers, Delta College, Citadel Broadcasting, and Z93.
